29th September 2026 - Feast of St. Michael and Archangels

"Dear brothers and sisters.

I hope you are well.

Today we celebrate the Holy Archangels. They are a sign of God’s goodness and His intervention in history. For this reason, we must hope.

But here in Gaza, the thing that is most deeply destroying people’s hope—and their lives— is the indifference of the rest of the world. It is the world’s passivity, inertia, and unwillingness to act - in the worst sense of the word.

The rest of the world knows what needs to be done, yet they fail to do it. Instead, they remain passive and do nothing.

It requires no great insight to see what is needed — just common sense and a basic sense of humanity. It should be even clearer to those whose humanity is illuminated by faith.

There are two million people here – waiting. They lack everything, the most basic necessities, yet they witness the indifference of the world. They see a world unwilling to help. That is what the people here feel.

Not that - “No one can help us,” but rather - “They don’t want to help us. No one cares. No one is interested.”

The water situation is an absolute emergency. The rains have already begun, and here, rain means cold, winter, and exposure. Some aid is coming in, but it’s not enough. Not enough to alleviate the suffering or meet their basic needs.

It is extremely difficult to be here and to share in the daily lives of these people. There are many around the world who have good intentions and beautiful words. But when these words and do not translate into action - good intentions never become reality.

Meanwhile the people remain in desperate need.

May God bless you from Gaza, and until tomorrow, God willing."

St. Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle.

Be our defence against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,

And do thou,

O Prince of the heavenly hosts,

By the power of God,

Thrust into hell Satan,

And all the evil spirits,

Who prowl about the world

Seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. .
